About me
I am Aritz Palacin a visual artist (BFA), painter and illustrator born in Basque Country, based in Finland. All my life, immersing myself into my vast imagination has been a natural process for me. Since I was a child, I started experimenting with various art techniques, eventually finding my home in pencil, black ink & oil paints. My imagination and creation are like a void: dark, alien and disturbing. I find my inspiration in cosmic horror, modern gothic, new weird, occult, mythologies, history, all things dark and macabre. Stories of Lovecraft, Stoker, Tolkien, Sapkowski and so much more have also influenced me.
Artists such as Frank Frazetta, H.R. Giger, Zdzisław Beksiński, Francisco de Goya, Francis Bacon, Juan Giménez, and Edvard Munch have been instrumental in shaping my artistic vision. From Frazetta and Giménez I have absorbed the dynamism and epic of their compositions, while Giger and Beksiński have influenced me in the creation of haunting atmospheres and grotesque creatures. The emotional tension of Bacon and Munch, along with the power of Goya’s gothic symbolism, have deepened my exploration of darkness and the unspeakable.
